My Semi Awesome Life At Fully Lit ACL Fest

October 16, 2017

Just 358 days until Austin City Limits Festival 2018 kicks off at Zilker, but I'm still reminesing on an incredible second weekend.  First off, huge shout out to the ACL peeps for allowing me to cover this amazing event each year.  Truly blessed.

You know me and big bro, Big Ced 'The Fly Guy with Bow Ties' connected to check out shows starting at 11:30 A.M. all three days.  If you are a late-arriver, do yourself a favor next year and head to the Fest early!

I'm allergic to mold, so taking an allergy pill before hitting Zilker Park was a good idea.  Learned my lesson from last year, and stopped the sneezing beforehand.  Nothing but sun and fun.

It was AMAZING to see my ATX-friend, Melat, performing at her 1st ACL Fest this year.  What's crazy...she was born and raised in the ATX, but had never been to the Festival before.  Welp, check another life goal off the list.  Congrats, Melat!!!

One thing I LOVE to do during ACL, is watch the big sporting events while at Fest.  The Beer Hall next to the media area was a full-on tailgate!  Tons of Texas Longhorn fans (and Sooners, too).  It was amzing to watch my Westlake-friend, Sam Ehlinger, nearly pull off a huge Red River Rivalry upset while Spoon played in the background.

Can I talk about the views at night?  We live in such a beautiful city, and the ACL environment really brings the 'ATX' out.

Downloading the ACL Festival app was a smart thing to do.  I had the full line up (complete with push notifications) right in the palm of my hand.  Shout out to the Festival peeps on putting together an informative download.

The social media folks at ACL Fest do a a tremendous job with their 'Day Before Recaps'.  As someone who works with editing video, I'm always amazed to see the fantastic//complicated job they do in putting out these recap videos SO QUICKLY!  Kudos, team.

Of course, the big acts like Jay Z and Ice Cube had tons of rabid fans.  But its truly the 'under the radar' groups that the ACL Fest folks hand selected to perform, that sets this Festival apart.

The food trucks are ALWAYS on point at the Fest.  Whenever munchie attacks hit, I either retreated to the media tent (thank you to the Fest folks for the awesome happy hours and free pizza), or spent a little dough on some fantastic eating.

Now comes the post-ACL Fest blues.  So much anticipation for the event, and jam packed fun inside of two weekends.  I'm just wondering how it flew by so fast...
